Water damage gets worse with time. Even after a phone looks dry, minerals left behind start corroding the board, and a phone that worked at first can fail days later. Salt water, sugary drinks and pool water do the most harm. Rice does not remove that residue, so it rarely helps.

Common questions
Should I put my wet phone in rice?
We do not recommend it. Rice does not pull water from inside the phone or remove the residue that causes corrosion. Turn the phone off, do not charge it and bring it in as soon as you can.
Can a water damaged phone be fixed?
Many can, especially when they come in quickly. Some boards are too corroded to save. We open the phone and tell you honestly what we find before you pay for any repair.
Can you save my photos from a wet phone?
Often, if the phone can be brought back to life long enough to back it up. We try to get it working first. We do not erase data during repair, and we tell you right away if saving the data looks unlikely.
My phone is water resistant. Why did it get damaged?
Water resistance wears down over time, and drops, heat and aging seals make it weaker. Pools, hot water and salt water are harder on seals than a quick splash, and sugary drinks leave sticky residue behind.
