Most iPhone charging trouble starts in the port. Pocket lint packs into the bottom of the Lightning or USB-C port until the cable cannot click in all the way. Drops and bent plugs can also damage the pins, so the phone charges only at one angle or not at all.

Often a careful cleaning is all it needs, and we will tell you if that is the case. If the port itself is worn or damaged, we replace the charging port assembly, which on many models also carries the bottom microphone. We test with our own cables so you know the fix is real.

Signs of a bad iPhone charging port

  • Cable feels loose or falls out
  • Charges only when the cable is held at an angle
  • Accessory Not Supported message
  • Charging starts and stops over and over
  • Lint or dirt you can see inside the port
  • Charges wirelessly but not with a cable

Common questions

Can a dirty port stop my iPhone from charging?

Yes, and it is one of the most common causes we see. Lint packs down in the port so the plug cannot seat fully. We clean it safely without scratching the pins. Please avoid pins or paper clips at home, since they can damage the contacts.

How long does a charging port repair take?

A cleaning is quick. A full port replacement is often done while you wait for popular models we keep in stock. If we need to order the part, we tell you how long it will take before any work starts.

Will I lose my data?

No. Port repairs do not touch your storage, and we do not erase data for normal repairs. We still suggest backing up to iCloud when you can, especially if the phone has been hard to charge lately.

What if it is not the port?

Sometimes the problem is the battery or the charging chip on the board. Our check finds that before you pay for a part you do not need. We explain what we found, what it takes to fix it and your options.
