When Face ID or a fingerprint sensor stops working, you are left typing your passcode for everything, including payments. Common causes are a drop, water damage or a screen repair that disturbed nearby parts. Sometimes the cause is simpler, like a thick screen protector or dirt on the sensor.
Face ID and Touch ID parts are paired to the phone's board for security. That means some faults cannot be fixed by swapping parts, and we will not pretend otherwise. We test the phone first, explain what is causing the problem and tell you what is possible before any work starts.

Common questions
Can Face ID be repaired?
Sometimes. If the fault is a damaged flex cable or a part near the sensor, it can often be repaired. The Face ID sensor itself is paired to the phone, so if it has failed, replacing it is usually not possible. We test and tell you honestly.
Why did Face ID stop working after a screen repair?
Face ID sits above the screen, but a rough screen repair can damage the nearby flex cables or the earpiece assembly. We check those parts first, since they can often be repaired.
Can a fingerprint sensor be replaced?
On Android phones, an in-screen sensor often works again after a new screen and a fresh setup. On iPhone, the Touch ID button is paired to the board, so a new button may only work as a home button. We explain before you choose.
Will I lose my data?
No. We do not erase data for normal repairs, and testing Face ID or a fingerprint sensor does not touch your storage. Back up first if you can, as with any repair.
